Mayor's Charity Ball

CLOSE to a hundred people donned their finery on Saturday night in order to attend the glittering Mayor's charity ball held at the Cooden Beach hotel.

Guests enjoyed a sumptuous three course meal and were entertained with performances from Brighton Review Company of O'Voir, O'Voir and the East Sussex School of Performing Arts who put on a special performance of the traditional French dance, the Can Can.

He said: "The ball is held to raise funds for my charity, which throughout the year has been the Ninth Bexhill Scout group. I am very happy that they have been able to rebuild their hut, which as you know was burned down by arsonists."

He added: "They have done extremely well. The people and businesses of Bexhill have been very generous with their support and donations."

Among the many attending the ball were Nikki Kemp and Simon Davis of the Oasis cafe in Sea Road. They said they feel the ball is a good way to support local charities and they will be sad to see the departure Cllr Douart as Town Mayor.

Nikki said: "I think it's a wonderful event, everyone looks gorgeous and it's for a good cause."

Whilst Simon commented: "Patrick has been a good Mayor for Bexhill, he is a popular and respected figure throughout the town, he takes things seriously but manages to retain a sense of humour."
