Mayor's golf fundraiser

Almost 100 golfers took part in the charity event at Cooden Beach golf course organised by Town Mayor Councillor Jimmy Carroll.

This was held to raise funds for Jimmy's chosen charity for his year as Mayor - the young and elderly of Sidley.

Some 92 players took park in the day which turned out even better than he expected.

Jimmy said: "We have done very well out of it. We had some wonderful weather, and wonderful sponsors. We are up to 5,500 now, which will be less expenses, but we are looking at more coming in.

"A great day was had by all."

Jimmy said organising the event proved "very difficult" but everything came together in the end, and he was pleased by the support he received, particularly from Bexhill Honda, which was "absolutely fantastic".

Local businesses donated prizes and sponsorship, and Jimmy was helped by close friend Phil Morris who gave time and expertise to make the event a success.

The Mayor also thanked the committee and members of Cooden Beach Golf Club and staff who helped on the day.
