The site will be throwing open its doors for the 2015 season on March 28, and to mark the occasion it will be hosting a two-day bonanza designed to show what life was like in the 12th century.

Visitors can expect to be transported to the time of William d’Albini, Earl of Arundel, with the skilled performers of Raven Tor Living History Group transforming themselves into characters from the late Norman period.

The production group will be showcasing the fashions and costumes of the time as well as combat techniques and crafts.

During the event, Arundel Castle’s 30-foot tall keep will play host to combat and archery demonstrations, high-lighting the tactics of the battles of the period.

Craft displays will be positioned in the Barbican including an upright loom on show for the first time at the castle as part of this event.

Castle manager Bryan McDonald said the event would be a ‘fitting way’ to get visitors involved in the fort’s rich, Norman history. For more details, see www.arundelcastle.org
