Meeting to save Littlehampton’s theatre

CAMPAIGNERS have called a meeting to discuss the future of Littlehampton’s Windmill Entertainment Theatre.

Hundreds of residents from across the area have already given their views on Arun District Council’s draft leisure strategy – including these students from The Littlehampton Academy, pictured.

Members from the East Beach Residents’ Association (EBRA) are holding an urgent meeting on Tuesday (October 2) at the Millennium Chamber, Manor House, in Church Street, Littlehampton, between 7-9pm.

David Warne, chairman of the EBRA, said proposals could see the theatre and the Littlehampton Swimming and Sports Centre sold.

He said: “The EBRA and other community groups in the Littlehampton and Rustington areas feel both facilities are highly valued community assets. They are vital to the leisure, health and cultural wellbeing of people of all ages in our area. They should be maintained and improved for the enjoyment of all Littlehampton and Rustington residents and future generations, as well as people in the wider Arun district who enjoy them.”

Surveys are available today (Thursday, September 27), at the Littlehampton Town Council offices, Church Street, at 1-3pm and 4-6pm.

They are also at Arundel Library, between 10am and 1pm, tomorrow, Arundel Town Council, from 10.30am to 4pm, on Monday (October 1).

Full details about the strategy can be viewed on Arun’s website, here.
