Memorable charity spring concert

St Mary's Church, West Chiltington, was packed for Farlington School's Charity Spring Concert and the audience was treated to a fantastic concert.

The varied programme ranged from Telemann to tango.

There were confident solo performances from the girls - Olivia Bell and Susannah Jackson both sang beautifully.

The Telemann Ensemble, Saxophonics, Clarinet Quartet and Strood Consort played faultlessly and the audience was privileged to hear Sixth Form music student Elizabeth Elliott’s premier performance of ‘Variations on “No Other Moon”’ with guest guitarist Conor Miles.

Kati Boosey showed that the versatility of the recorder should never be underestimated with her techno-version of ‘Who’s Bar Three?’ and, of course, the combined voices of Farlingtonic and Aristoskatz had everyone tapping their toes and singing along (very quietly) with their rendition of ‘Something Stupid’, ‘I Write the Songs’ and ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’.

The finale brought everyone together, choirs and instrumentalists, to perform ‘The Heavens are Telling!’ from Haydn’s ‘The Creation’.

The evening finished with cheese and wine in the church hall.

It was a fabulous concert of music and a marvellous £630 was raised for the West Chiltington Organ Fund.

Thanks go to Jane Thomas, Farlington’s head of music, for organising the event, and to all of the girls, parents and friends of Farlington who gave such a memorable evening of music.
