To mark the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation in Westminster Abbey, in 1953, dozens of residents joined in a party at Claridge House, in Church Street.

Guests were entertained by a lively jazz trio, before taking a personal tour of the impressive show complex and enjoying a selection of light refreshments.

Julie Ward, of McCarthy & Stone, which runs Claridge House, said: “This anniversary is one our residents are particularly keen to enjoy with the wider community, with some remembering the original street celebrations when the Queen came to the throne 60 years ago.

“It was a wonderful day and we were pleasantly surprised at the number of people in attendance, which goes to show that community celebrations are not weather dependent. Coming together to share a significant event with residents and visitors alike is something we are very proud to be involved with here at McCarthy & Stone.”
