Men arrested following pub brawl

TWO Playden men were arrested following a pub brawl in which a man was knocked unconscious and serious damage caused to a Peasmarsh pub.

Police were called to the Cock Inn at 10.25pm after some customers had been ejected earlier in the evening and later returned.

A man was taken to hospital after being knocked unconscious in a fight that broke out. Three other men also required hospital treatment.

A significant amount of damage was caused to a door, windows and furniture in the incident.

A 34-year-old man from Playden, near Rye, was arrested on suspicion of affray and later bailed until May 22. A 41-year-old man, also from Playden, was arrested on suspicion of ABH and criminal damage. He remained in custody on Monday morning (May 14).

Detective Constable Paul Semple said: “This was a frightening experience for everybody who witnessed it, especially as this licensed premises is normally a peaceful and trouble-free location.”
