Men join Probus ladies for lunch

This is a marvellous opportunity to include husbands, and potential lady members, to socialise and to find out more about the Probus organisation. Indeed fifteen brave males supported their women folk and more names were added to the existing waiting list and we appreciate the encouragement and support shown to us - thank you.

Maureen Girard, our third president, opened the meeting with a quick resume of the past and congratulated the original, foundation committee on their tireless efforts in the procedure of setting up a new organisation. These members were Russ, Jean, Patsy, Barbara, Ann and Maureen. She outlined plans for the future and mentioned some of the exciting trips booked for the remainder of the year.

The lunch was a leisurely affair and a pleasant way to spend an effortlessly four hours on a lazy summer’s afternoon. The usual high culinary standards, we have come to expect from West Sussex Golf Club, were more than excelled and the wine and conversation flowed – indeed none of us wanted to return home.

The lunch ended with the usual Loyal and Probus toasts and a reminder that the next meeting would be on July 7 at our usual venue The Roundabout Hotel. We shall then look forward to meeting our inviited guest speaker, Sussex Police Crime Commissioner, Katy Bourne.
