Ms Kelly said: “From the library in the trees in Slovenia to the waltzer at the fair, there was a wide range of unusual entries to choose from.

“I hadn’t realised that reading could be such an extreme sport!”

The student competition was won by Harriet Light, Year 7, who was pictured reading The Lord of the Rings at Cheddar Gorge.

Daisy Andrews, also Year 7, came second for her picture at the Swarovski crystal staircase on the Champs Elysees.

Sophie Kingdom, Year 10, was third for a snap at McCaig’s Tower in Oban.

She said: “It was quite difficult to climb up to the arch but I did it with the help of my brother.”
