Middleton fete raises record funds

The excellent turnout at Shrubbs Field is thought to have created a new record for the amount made from the community occasion.

The proceeds from the event '“ held under a clear blue sky '“ will be split between the Macmillan cancer nurses and paying for added security measures at Jubilee Hall.

Among the attractions enjoyed by the large number of people who went along were Egyptian dancers, Middleton old time sequence dance club, a re-enactment group, a dog show and car boot sale. Children's games, a bouncy castle and a fun fair were further crowd-pullers.
