Midhurst Post Office plans to go ahead

There was an outcry in Midhurst when the plans went out for consultation earlier this year.

Hide AdThe Post Office said the move would see the service open seven days a week and a total of 65 hours longer every week.
Objectors said the new location would be less accessible for elderly people and more isolated.
Midhurst town councillors said they could see no benefit to the town. They were concerned about the increase of cars and pedestrians in a confined space at the Bepton Road Garage.

Hide AdBut last night (Monday, November 14), Steve Morley told fellow members of the town council’s finance, asset and policy committee: “While I still retain a certain cynicism of consultations, I think it is time to move on. I am grateful to the people who had the Post Office in North Street and that someone else has stepped forward to take it on.
“Given the way it’s going in other parts of the country we should be grateful we have got a Post Office in the town.”
