MILD NOVEMBER CONFIRMED

It rained and rained in November and now here's the evidence of how warm it really was.

For the first time in three years, East Sussex Highways did not send out its gritter lorries during the whole month.

The county council tested its 25 gritters and two snow blowers along 840 miles of the busiest roads in October in preparation for the winter weather.

But it wasn't until this December that the gritters were called out.

Fifty drivers are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week along with a network of local farmers to defend our roads against severe winter weather.

They have been called out three times so far this month.
