Missing children in care sparks concerns

MORE than 100 young people have gone missing from care in West Sussex since 2000, according to figures released by the Care Leavers' Association.

A survey of 172 local authorities in England and Wales revealed that there are currently almost 400 young people who have gone missing from care without a trace.

West Sussex County Council reported losing the most young people '“ 110 '“ since the year 2000, with 73 under the age of 18.

The survey, undertaken using the Freedom of Information Act, revealed that while some local authorities can account for all of the young people in their care, there are 41 local authorities have children and young people who are missing.
