More floats needed for Lewes Carnival

A DRIVE is under way to increase the number of floats taking part in this year’s Lewes Carnival Procession.

Organisers the Rotary Club of Lewes Castle has written to local businesses and organisations inviting their participation and support.

This year’s carnival, with the theme ‘60 Glorious Years’ promises to be extra special. The procession through the town is one of the highlights of the day.

Floats can be on a vehicle or on foot and those taking part will make their way from County Hall to Malling Fields, cheered on by the crowds along the route.

This year’s carnival will be staged on Tuesday, June 5, and entry in the procession is free.

An action-packed afternoon of fun is in store at Malling Fields, with stalls, live music and arena events.

In addition to more floats, the Rotary Club of Lewes Castle has invited organisations to have a stall at the showground, provide entertainment in the arena, advertise in the programme and sponsor a prize(s). Cash sponsors would also be welcomed.

If you are interested in helping, contact the club at Lewes Funeral Care, 48a Malling Street, Lewes, BN7 2RH (telephone 01273 480270).
