More room for Felpham pupils

Nine and ten-year-old pupils at a Felpham school are revelling in its newest classroom.

The 30 children have moved into the premises at Downview Primary School.

They pronounced themselves delighted with the accommodation in which to continue their learning.

Shannon Noble (9) said: "It's a really nice classroom. It's bigger than our other one was. We were a bit squeezed in there."

The new room was created on part of the playground among a series of improvements to the Wroxham Way site.

Among the benefits of the room is the latest whiteboard with a projector.

Deputy headteacher James Martin said: "This is the first purpose-built classroom at the school for many years.

"It could be the first of three new classrooms here which will mean our mobile units can go."

The space in which the Year four children were being taught before the classroom opened is being used to give other children more room for their lessons.

The school of some 420 pupils recently opened a library in an earlier phase of its improvements. Next will come a new kitchen to enable hot meals to be served up again each day.

The new classroom has also been matched by an extra section being added on to the school's playground to ensure the children still have plenty of space in which to enjoy their break times.
