More than 1,000 people sign petition to save Boxal Bridge
A PETITION to save an ancient bridge is gathering momentum.
More than 1,000 people have registered their signature online in a bid to save Boxal Bridge, between Kirdford and Wisborough Green, from demolition.
A spokesman for the Keep Kirdford and Wisborough Green group said: “This stone bridge is named as a community asset. However, this gives it no statutory protection from demolition, which is what West Sussex County Council would like to do, and replace it with a two-lane highway.
“The petition was set up demanding Boxal Bridge is not demolished as residents wish to retain the rural character of the road.”
