More time is given to reply to survey on town parking

MORE time is being given for residents to have their say about parking controls in Bognor Regis and Felpham.

West Sussex County Council has extended its deadline for comments about the matter to be submitted. The new cut-off date is August 31.

Cllr George Blampied, represents Felpham on the county council and is also the chairman of the Joint Western Arun Area Committee.

He said: “We want to make the most informed decision we can on the future of parking regulations in Bognor and Felpham.

“So, by extending the deadline, we can give more residents the chance to let us know what they think.

“Peoples’ opinions really do matter, so please contact us by August 31.”

The Observer reported last month that the county council had begun to consult about potential changes to the current parking regulations. The original deadline for comments was last Friday.

A questionnaire about the scheme was sent to 6,000 homes and businesses around central Bognor and part of Felpham.

It sought to find out if people had parking problems and, if so, if they wanted something further to be done about them.

Replies can be sent in the pre-paid business reply envelope supplied with the survey.

Among the options which could be considered by the county councilis a residents’ parking scheme.

This is an area of streets where parking is controlled in daytime through paid-for permits or vouchers.

Other choices include minor changes to yellow lines or keeping the current set-up.
