The collision, involving a black Vauxhall Astra and a white Transit van, took place shortly after 4am.

The driver of the car left the scene.

A 22-year-old man from Worthing was later arrested on suspicion of failing to provide a specimen for analysis, failing to report an accident and dangerous driving.

He was released on bail until 17 October.

No-one was seriously hurt.
