Caroline Lane, a MBACP trained counsellor, and her daughter Charlotte, opened Lanes Counselling in The Old Printing Works, in Tarrant Street, in September.

Within just one month, the business doubled and they have now reached their full capacity.

Charlotte, 24, is office manager for the service.

She believes the good response to the business from clients is down to the personal approach she and her mother provides.

“I think we’ve had such a good reception because we offer a more complete service.

“We differ from other places as we don’t set a time limit on consultations, we offer shift appointments for people who have shift jobs and struggle to make normal appointment times, and we offer counselling for families, individuals and couples all under one roof,” she said.

With 30 per cent of clients coming from Worthing and others coming from Chichester and Horsham, Charlotte and her mum are now looking to expand the business to match the demand.

She added: “It’s going really well so we’d like to grow.

“We currently have two counsellors but we’re interviewing for an extra two or three in the next few weeks – we’d like to have four by December,” Charlotte said.
