Mother verbally abused at cash point

A WOMAN was verbally abused at a town centre cash point while queueing with her young son.

At about 3.30pm on Tuesday, March 31, a 23-year-old woman was queuing with her four-year old son at the cashpoint outside Boots in Montague Street, Worthing, when she was approached by a man described as white and of large build on a bicycle, who was verbally abusive and aggressive towards her before making off on the cycle.

PC Jennifer Jellis said: “The woman and her son were not physically injured but were very shaken by this most unpleasant experience. At the time of the incident there were other people queuing for the cash point so if you were there and saw what happened please contact us via [email protected] call 101, quoting serial 1104 of 31/3.”

The man and woman are known to each other.

A 32-year-old Worthing man has been arrested on suspicion of threatening and abusive behaviour, and has been released on police bail until May 5 while enquiries continue. Police are asking witnesses to the incident to come forward.
