Motorist dies after his car hits tree

A MOTORIST died after the car he was driving hit a tree in Worthing on Tuesday morning.

The accident happened in Rectory Road, Tarring, just south of the junction with Glebe Road at 8.44am.

The man, who was the only person in the car, was freed from the Daewoo Matiz by firefighters and taken to Worthing Hospital by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead.

He has not yet been formally identified.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact 0845 60 70 999, quoting Operation Aldbury.
