Mountfield

ST MICHAEL’S: Barbara Valentine has been in touch to let us know that St Michael’s Summer Fayre will be held tomorrow (September 5th), at the Hospice, from 10.15 am to 1.00 pm. Barbara will be there, doing quick watercolour portraits of visitors. She adds that traditionally every year the Fayre enjoys lovely Indian Summer weather — so at least we now know when the rain is going to stop! St Michael’s is a cause close to all our hearts — even more so this year following the fire, so why not go along for the fun in aid of a good cause.

MOUNTFIELD COMMUNITY ARTS: There is currently a display in Battle Library showing some of the paintings done at Mountfield Community Arts classes at the Village Hall. It covers some of the subjects and mediums taught by Barbara and Juliette. Classes start again on Tuesday and Wednesday 15th and 16th September. For more details, please contact Barbara on 01424 838 264.

MOUNTFIELD PARISH COUNCIL: The next Council meeting is on Tuesday September 8th, 7.30 pm in the Village Hall. The agenda will be posted on the parish website (mountfield.org.uk) and the notice board by the phone box. All welcome.

MOUNTFIELD CLUB: The Club would like to thank Alan and Carol and their band, Pretty Loose, who played live at the Club recently (Saturday August 15th). A great time was had by all. With the darts Winter League due to start soon, the Club are looking for more players or more teams who would like to use the club as a venue please call Steve Sutton on 07746 640555.

THE BAD NEWS: It’s been a while since the last outbreak but we have to report that a cement mixer was nicked from a property on Hoath Hill on the night of August 25-26th. If anyone has any information, please call 101 and quote reference 0664 26/08/15.

THE GOOD NEWS: We are sad to be losing Sean and Yvette as our neighbours up Rocks Hill — though we hope that Sean will be staying in the village — but we would like to extend a warm welcome to Sharon and Dave who have moved into 2, Castle Farm Cottages (where Mick and Judith lived for so many years). We were amazed to se how quickly they made the place homely, especially as they moved in on one of those days of Biblical rain that we’ve had recently.

CONTACT: As ever, if you have anything for the Village Voice, we can be contacted on 880614 or via [email protected].
