Firstly, some sad news I’m afraid - Mr George Sawyer passed away on 6th February in hospital, He was a member of Mountfield lunch club and will be missed. Condolences to his daughter.

If anyone in the village is interested in the occasional dog walk, with company, would they like to forward their mobile number to 07702647028. The idea being that if you want company on a dog walk you send a ‘group’ text to others in the village stating when and where to meet. Some may not be able to meet at the given time or may choose not walk but it’s nice to have the choice.

Snooker results from Steve Smith: Mountfield travelled to top of the table Burwash A in thier Division 3 match and lost narrowly 3-2.

Wayne Hardy won the first frame for Mountfield 54-10 and when Kevin Gray won the the second frame on the black 42-40 And away win looked likely.Next up was Jack Hayler,who played the game of his life finally losing on the black,44-53.Andy Saunders lost the 4th frame again on the black 43-48 to put the match at 2-2 In the final frame Steve Smith lost again on the black 35-47.

The following week saw Mountfield at home to second in the table Battle E.When Andy Saunders and Jack Hayler on his home debut lost the first two frames 28-57,23-54,the team seemed in trouble.But next up was Kevin Gray who won his 6th consecutive league match 56-34 to reduce the arrears.In the 4th frame Alex Gray unluckily lost 47-54 on a re spotted black,to put the match out of reach at 1-3.In the 5th and final frame Captain Steve Smith won 52-39 leaving the final score Mountfield 2 Battle E 3.

Mountfield Horticultural Society Annual General Meeting will be on Tuesday 5th March at 7:30pm in Mountfield Village Hall. All members and potential members are welcome.
