Moving tribute to special people in Littlehampton

PEOPLE who have had a special place in the heart of a charity are being given moving tributes in more ways than one.

Littlehampton Shopmobility is naming its scooters after them, with two more added to the roll call last week.

Thelma was named after Thelma Scarman, who donated the scooter to the St Martin’s Lane-based organisation, and Jon recalls the charity’s first manager, Jonathon Jackson.

His wife, Rosemary Orpin, was at the annual meeting to see the new scooter, as was Thelma. They join Bob, Leslie, Lilian and Molly as other scooters already personalised, with eight more in the pipeline.

It was a doubly special occasion at the meeting, as businessman John Stevens, representing the charity’s landlord for its Bradbury Centre premises, presented Shopmobility a copy of its new ten-year lease.

Torquil Morgan, chairman, thanked John for his continuing support and said there were exciting times ahead, including a new service on the seafront this summer.
