LEWES MP Norman Baker will preside over a controversial debate entitled ‘Why do we need laws against drugs.’

He chairs the meeting between Peter Hitchens and Dr Axel Klein on July 15 during the Lewes Speakers’ Festival. Hitchens, noted for his traditionalist conservative stance, crosses swords with Klein, an expert on how people use ‘mind-altering’ substances.

This year’s three-day festival from July 13-15 at the All Saints Centre, Lewes, promises to be the biggest and best so far with a sparkling array of sharp minds and personalities in the line-up.

Speakers will include Climate Change Minister Gregory Barker and Green Party MP Caroline Lucas.
