MP renews call for new hospital to serve north

A WEST Sussex MP has questioned whether West Sussex Primary Care Trust should continue buying services from Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.

Francis Maude says that more than 50 per cent of East Surrey Hospital's patients are from West Sussex and they are tired of having to make the tortuous journey to Redhill.

Not only that but the Horsham MP also claims that despite the best efforts of its staff, the hospital is struggling and failing to cope with demand.

He has called for the primary care trust (PCT) to back realistic plans for a new hospital at Pease Pottage, between Horsham and Crawley, to serve the expanding population properly.

Mr Maude raised the issue in his response to the PCT's consultation on how best to improve health and well-being for people living in West Sussex.
