MP shows support for reduction in Beer Duty

Maria Caulfield MP attended ‘Message in a Barrel’ to show her support for local pubs and breweries.

The event was jointly organised by the British Beer & Pub Association, the All Party Parliamentary Beer Group, the Campaign for Real Ale and the Society of Independent Brewers.

Speaking from Westminster, Ms Caulfield said: “This Government has always shown a commitment to helping this industry to thrive, with pubs being vital to local communities across my constituency, and across the country.

“The case for showing the industry our support is clear, with it supporting some 900,000 jobs, being vital to youth employment with 46 per cent of those that work in pubs being aged between 16-24 years old, and contributing some £22 billion to UK GDP.

“Over recent years the Chancellor has been a champion of the beer industry by cutting the tax on a pint. I am hoping he will continue with this in the forthcoming budget.”
