Murder and suicide stun county

THE family of a woman murdered by her husband has said it feels both of them were let down by the system.

Police believe Roger Goswell, who had a history of mental illness, killed his wife, Sue, and then committed suicide by crashing his car into a tree just days before Christmas.

A statement was read out on behalf of the couple's family '“ children Sarah, Joseph and Rebecca and son-in-law Alex, Rebecca's husband '“ at a press briefing last Thursday.

It said: "We would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to our beloved mother, Sue Goswell. She was a wonderful parent, wife and friend to many.

"Our father, Roger Goswell, was a tortured soul and unfortunately in the end we feel that they were both let down by the system.

"Finally we would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and offers of support over the last few days."
