Police have launched a murder inquiry following the stabbing of a 26-year-old local man.

The man, of no fixed address, died in hospital at midnight. He had multiple stab wounds.

Police were called to Shelby Road, Durrington, at 10.42pm last night (Friday, January 30) following reports of a fight in the street.

Shortly after 11pm, a 19-year-old man was arrested. He is being held in custody and questioned about the incident.

Police were still at the scene this afternoon (Saturday, January 31) and could be seen scouring for clues and doing door-to-door enquiries.

Flowers have been left at the scene for the victim, who police have not yet named.
