Murderers and drug dealers among 70 who fled

MURDERERS serving life sentences and drug dealers have been on the run after absconding from Ford Prison in West Sussex this year, the Home Office has admitted.

A total of 70 criminals, including three murderers, have left the open prison this year, and the Home Office has confirmed that 29 are still at large. They were assessed as 'low risk' to the public according to the Home Office.

Until Monday night it was believed that those still on the run included a murderer, but the Home Office said then that all three murderers had now been recaptured.

The facts were given in a parliamentary answer to the shadow home affairs minister, Nick Herbert, who described the situation as a 'total disgrace'.
