Music group boosts coffers for charity

Members of a Bognor Regis musical group have recently handed over their latest fundraising cheque for a cancer charity.

The 11 members of Bognor Regis Handbell Ringers posted the 840 cheque to the Macmillan service as the final proceeds from their 2006 performances.

This is on top of the 460 which was sent to the charity last August as the proceeds from the summer concert.

Handbell Ringers' secretary Pauline Allsopp said: 'A very big thank you to all those who booked the group during 2006 which has enabled us to raise such a fantastic amount of money for this well-known charity.'

The group has chosen the Friends of Bognor War Memorial Hospital as its chosen good cause for this year because most of its many performances are around the town.

The ringers are compiling their 2007 programme. They have already been booked for this year's Bognor Regis music festival after their successful performance in the 2006 festival.

Booking inquiries should be made to Mrs Allsopp on 01243 586838.
