Musician's message in a song

BEXHILL resident and aspiring song writer Andrew Voyce has got together with a group of local talented musicians, Jamie Harris & Friends, and recorded his original song, 'Time to Change'.

Andrew was inspired to write the song following the launch of the 'Time to Change' national TV and press campaign earlier this year, described as, 'England's most ambitious programme to end discrimination faced by people who experience mental health problems.'

The musicians are a mix of well-known professionals and mental health service users from Hastings and Rother, and Jamie Harris and Friends hope their music will 'help the wider public gain a better understanding of the difficulties people face when trying to live and work whilst experiencing illness and distress, and the song's message highlights the stigma and discrimination faced by people with mental health issues'.

First time producer Jamie Harris captures the chorus of Leonie, Sara, Leita, Ann, James and Andrew singing out 'Don't you think it's time to change!', adding his own lead vocals, electric guitar and drums. The haunting, bluesy song has the talents of Roger Carey on bass guitar, Phil Hudson on electric guitars and Rob Leake's laid back tenor sax solo is a superb addition.

Recorded at The Rooms studio in St Leonards, with the wizardry of Rob the engineer's expertise on the decks, Andrew said the group are delighted with the end result: "We all think it's terrific, but we would, wouldn't we?"

The musicians are keen for the recording to be promoted and used in support of the 'Time to Change' campaign and individuals are welcome to download and listen for personal enjoyment at www.activ8network.org/time-to-change-song.htm
