Mystery donor funds minibus for Worthing group

Superstar Arts, which organises creative educational projects for people with learning disabilities, used the cash to buy a minibus from Worthing Mencap.

Artists from the group visited Buddys café, in South Farm Road, Worthing, to celebrate the purchase, which will mean they can visit galleries, museums and other local places of interest to find inspiration for their projects.

Jo Sullivan, co-founder, explained: “Superstar Arts is a not for profit, community interest company, which means like a conventional charity, we rely on donations and fundraising activities to deliver our service.

“Because of this generous donation, not only are we are able to continue to engage with the local community, but we are also able to expand, offering more social days out as well as a holiday for the Superstar artists’ partner organisation, Super Friends.’’

Debbie Cockrill, administrator at Buddys, said: “Worthing Mencap is very happy that the minibus has found a new home with Superstar Arts. We know it will be a valuable asset to this fantastic organisation and will enable them to take their members out and about in the community.”

Jo said it was vital to work together to develop supportive communities.

“People with learning disabilities are exceeding outdated expectations and this is why it is vital to provide challenging and meaningful activities with real outcomes,” she added.
