Nature Trail at Charters Ancaster

Parents and teachers from Charters Ancaster College were out in force with secateurs, saws and rakes at the weekend, completing the second phase of their new nature trail.

Utilising previously unused parts of the gardens at the Gunters Lane school, teachers plan to identify trees, plants and wildlife for pupils to study and to enjoy the relative calm of the less cultivated areas of their playground.

This initiative, led by Year 2 Teacher Mrs. Sally Thorkildsen, has gained great support from parents who have participated in the clearing of fallen trees, pathways and overgrown shrubbery. The benefits to all pupils for lessons and projects will be immediate and Charters Ancaster hopes to invite other local schools to enjoy this facility once all the plant-life has been identified.

The pictures show teachers, parents and pupils on Sunday having completed Phase 2 and now planning the use of the newly available space.
