A UK Power Networks spokesman said the engineers worked ‘as quickly as possible’ to restore the power and apologised.

“We understand how difficult it is being without electricity and would like to apologise to customers for the inconvenience caused,” the spokesman said.

There were concerns a power cut on Friday, May 20, was connected to this but the power company said that was caused by a different underground cable and both faults have been excavated and repaired.
