Placard-clutching protesters gathered outside the former swimming pool, in Brighton Road, Worthing, on Saturday, as part of their continuing opposition of the 21-storey tower plans.

Comments are now being welcomed by Worthing Borough Council on the official planning application, with a decision due to be made in the new year.

The change.org petition, started by the Save our Seafront group, states: “Worthing’s untouched skyline and promenade makes it a unique and iconic West Sussex seaside town, the suggested eyesore would jeopardise its charm, beauty and cultural heritage, which has been enjoyed by thousands of residents and tourists for many years.”

To comment on the plans, visit the Worthing Borough Council website at www.adur-worthing.gov.uk and visit the planning applications section.

Alternatively, write to Development Management, Adur & Worthing Councils, Portland House, 44 Richmond Road, Worthing, BN11 1HS – quoting AWDM/1636/14 and the address of the application.

A decision on the application will be made by members of the planning committee at a public hearing next year, after the consultation period ends.

The date of the hearing is yet to be announced.
