Net closes on Worthing train attack suspect

A spokeswoman for the British Transport Police said people had come forward with new information about the attack since photos of the man and his dog were released last week.

The 61-year-old guard was taken to hospital with injuries to his arm and thigh after the attack, on the 12.17pm Victoria to Littlehampton service on January 14.

Sergeant John Dickinson, from the British Transport Police (BTP), said the attack happened after a man refused to show the train guard his ticket.

The dog, believed to be a tan-coloured Staffordshire terrier cross, then bit the guard on the thigh and arm.

Natalie Davison, from the BTP, said: "We have had people come forward and provide us with information, but no arrests have been made yet.

"We are still looking at the intelligence and information which has come to us at this stage."

The dog owner is described as between 18 and 20, of medium-build, and about 5ft 7in tall.

He was wearing a black, hooded top, black jeans and a black baseball cap, with a distinctive black and red back pack.
