Battle Neighbourhood Plan: This month’s meeting of the Steering Group was held at The Almonry Battle on 15 March. Matters under discussion included potential new development sites and Assets of Community Value such as green spaces and buildings of social and historic value. The forthcoming exhibition in the Memorial Hall Battle on Thursday Evening 27 April at 6 pm, all day Friday 28, and in the morning of Saturday 29 April from 9.30 to 1 o’clock was also included in the items for discussion. For residents of Netherfield the Battle Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group are hoping to organise transport to and from the Memorial Hall in order to gather as wide an audience to the proposals as possible.

Claverham Monday Badminton Club: Whilst it was extremely cold in the night air outside the venue, the cauldron-like atmosphere within the hall, where the competitions were being enacted, meant that both tensions and expectations raised temperatures to extraordinary levels. Ok, poetic licence means that my language describing Monday night’s events is rather flowery and over optimistic but it was a good evening.

Three courts were taken by the club in a constant stream of combat. Four ladies were in evidence of the fifteen who took part on Monday and this was a first. This allowed an all-women match to take place, our first ever, and what a match it was. They are all experienced and talented players and no quarter was given by each of the opposing pairings. Great!
