Netherfield

To all the readers: of this column may I wish you all a very happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year. I do hope that I can inspire you to think of new ways to fill the Village Voice pages. You can send your suggestions to “[email protected]”. Stories, suggestions for articles maybe on local personalities, in fact anything that could interest our readers. Let us make 2016 a year to remember.

Darvel Down & Area Resident’s Association AGM Minutes: Unfortunately, due to a technical hitch we have been unable to secure a relevant copy of the minutes relating to the DD&ARA Annual General Meeting.

Netherfield Post Office/Shop/Cafe: I know it is Christmas but I make no apologies for reminding all our readers once again that the village shop is no longer paid a retainer by the Post Office to provide all those services that we need in the village. So please “use it or lose it”.

Home-made Cake Tasting: This too is the 2nd posting about the tasting taking place in the Netherfield Village Shop, or maybe even the new cafe, on Friday 15 January 2016 from 2-4pm. This will decide what will be offered for sale in the new coffee shop once it is up and running. Can you resist the thought of sampling something creamy and naughty?

Netherfield Coffee Shop: Janette still needs your suggestions for a name for the new coffee shop/cafe. A box is available in store for all those ideas that you wish to put forward. The winner will receive a bottle of wine so make sure your name and contact details are written on your entry.

New Year’s Eve Party Netherfield Village Hall: Turn up and tune in at the New Year’s Eve party where you can enjoy the music, a licensed bar, a raflle and snacks. It is also FREE to get in. It has been organised by Anne Everton and all proceeds from the night will be used to fund the urgent repairs needed at the village hall. Raffle tickets at a £1 will be sold on the night but can be bought from the Netherfield Village Shop at any time. The draw will take place on the night. You may even be able to dance on the ceiling with Lionel Richie.

Contact: If you have any stories or articles of interest that will give our readership a reason to buy the paper please contact me on 07471000385 or via email at [email protected]
