Netherfield

Netherfield Horse Ride: 97 riders took part over the two day event, many were local but there were also riders who had travelled from Kent and West Sussex. Everyone enjoyed the ride rosettes were awarded to all riders. There is a profit of approximately £927 before charitable donations which will be mainly used to improve our village but Age UK and Colleen’s Tenderheart Charity will also benefit. It is hoped that a planter can be provided at the Netherfield entry sign. Any ideas for future projects would be welcomed, in the past sums raised have provided a remembrance tree, the Netherfield sign and Church noticeboard. Many thanks to the landowners, Mick Scott, Richard Saunters and all the helpers for supporting this village event. Photos can be viewed here http://www.photoevents.org.uk/gallery.asp?EventID=578

Netherfield Church: The highlight of the week was the marriage of two local youngsters, Douglas Inwood, raised in Hastings and Sophie Smith of Netherfield. Saturday was kind weatherwise with the sun shining on the event. Our, now well known own vicar, Ann-Marie Crosse, led the service and everyone performed their roles to the letter. It was a truly joyful occasion for the couple and delightful to see a beautifully prepared and decorated church full for the service. Everyone appreciated all the effort that went into it and the admiring comments from so many of the guests, for our church, are always rewarding. Our sincere good wishes for a very happy future together to Mr and Mrs Inwood. Our service this Sunday is Netherfield’s Harvest Festival followed by a lunch in the church. Please note this service will start at the later time of 11 am. All are welcome and please bring along friends as well, however, it would be appreciated if you would let Maureen or myself know you are intending to come in order to cater for everyone. Thank you. Paul Smith, Churchwarden.
