Netherfield

Netherfield Horse Ride was enjoyed again this year and raised £310.00 towards the memorial seat. We were extremely lucky with the weather, the sun shone on the Saturday and kept dry on Sunday. As always thanks to Keith Datchelor (Beech Estate), Mick and Debbie (Ivyland Farm) and Mick Scott who worked tirelessly to set up the route, hopefully they will all be up for it again next year, as without them the ride could not happen! Work should start soon on the base for the village seat, it will be of brick design instead of concrete which will be more decorative.

Netherfield Church - A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Autumn Fair at the church. The weather at the start was awful yet people did turn out and soon the morning got going. Although it appeared somewhat slow the result belied this as we had as many through the door as at the Spring Fair. The atmosphere was so friendly and relaxed that the hours slipped by too quickly really and the raffle was a rushed affair at the end. All the stalls did well but most successful was the produce stall, a vast collection of baking and preserves, which had all gone by the end of the morning. The church mouse was named and has gone to a good home, the tombola saw a brisk trade as did the bric-a-brac. Books sold well and a collection of car and aero books have been whisked away by a specialist. The refreshments were much in demand as ever with people taking time out for a chat. Thank you to the ladies for their baking skills, generously given and to those who donated prizes and items for sale, also to everyone who helped set up and run it on the day. As I said appearances were deceptive as the brilliant sum of £420 was raised which is a jolly good reward for everyone’s efforts. Thank you.

This Sunday’s service is at Mountfield and is a joint Holy Communion and then we are back to Netherfield for Holy Communion on Sunday October 28. All services are at the usual time of 10am. Paul Smith, Churchwarden.
