Netherfield village voice - March 23

Netherfield Church - The final service this month will be a joint service of Holy Communion at Netherfield on Sunday March 25. Looking ahead to April, I have to amend the information given last week. The first Sunday, because it is Palm Sunday, will be a Holy Communion, however, the emphasis will be on the family because this would normally be our joint Family Service with Mountfield held at Netherfield.

The next Sunday is Easter and this will be celebrated at Mountfield. I trust this is clear and again I advise you to check here each week or on notice boards at the churches.

The Queens Diamond Jubilee will be celebrated in Netherfield on Monday June 4. A committee has been formed and plans are already well underway for the event. It will be held on the village green, opposite the post office, as was the Royal Wedding celebration last year. Details will be drip fed as things are firmed up and already commemorative coins have been obtained to mark this special occasion. A free one for each family attending the event or additional ones, may be purchased on the day. We are looking for local organisations or businesses to sponsor the cost of these and will gladly advertise your business on the day as supporting the event. Please contact me for more details. Children’s entertainment is planned and some already booked with ideas for more being discussed. Competitions and games for everyone and obviously food and drink will be available for which help and donations will be sought nearer the time. It is hoped that this event will be as successful as the Royal Wedding event was, in bringing the village together for a really enjoyable afternoon. Starting at 2 pm and continuing through to 6 pm on the green to then be followed by live music, courtesy of Lumpy and the Lumpettes, at the White Hart, to keep the event going into the evening. If you have any ideas or wish to help, please do not be shy and get in touch. Thank you. Paul Smith Church Warden.
