NEW COINS AND METERS: When the new £1 pound coins come into circulation they will not work on the current vending or parking meters, which leads me to wonder how long it will take to change the parking meters and if we will get any free parking periods. The old pound coins are quickly going to disappear so make sure you have plenty of change as I foresee problems.

CHRIST CHURCH: Our last Tots session for pre-school children and their carers this term takes place today (Friday) from 9.30am to 11.30am. The Tots then take a break for the school holidays. On Sunday, Gwyneth Watkinson leads our Sunday morning service at 10.30am. The Lent Study courses continue at St Anne’s on Tuesday at 11am and at Christ Church on Thursday at 7.30pm. The meeting of the Thinktank on March 22 heard an excellent presentation on Why Conservation is Important by David Streeter, Emeritus Reader in Ecology at the University of Sussex. He drew on his wide experience to show why the flora and fauna of the UK are unusually varied and discussed the political and social choices that are involved in providing for the needs and enjoyment of present and future generations. There was a lively and well-informed discussion. The Fitzjohn’s Food Bank will be starting at Christ Church on Monday April 10, supplying food to local people in need every Monday afternoon from 2pm onwards. WALLANDS SCHOOL: Thanks for all your support this week raising money for Comic Relief. The Red Noses have been very popular as were the cakes at the sale on Thursday. It was great to see the children wearing red today. We have raised a massive £1,145.50 so far.

Lewes Bridge View is an inclusive junior football club for youngsters from Lewes. They are always looking for new players, and at the moment they are looking to recruit an under 8’s team (years 2 and 3) for next season. They need players and ideally a couple of parents to coach and manage the squad. They will fund FA Level 1 coaching awards, a First Aid qualification and DBS checks as well as providing kit and equipment. Wallands played five matches and won three and drew two, exactly the same as Ringmer. Goals scored and goals conceded were the same as Ringmer, so Wallands finished joint first. For some of the girls it was their introduction into the world of competitive football and they all played with excellent sportsmanship and enthusiasm. Well done to all 10 girls and thank you to the parents for your support. Patina Dream Team Five a Side Football Festival for years 5 and 6 boys and girls, at the Dripping Pan on May 4. Hair cut Lila Rose Jackman (2ZH) recently had 30cm of hair cut off, which she has donated to The Little Princess Trust, a charity organisation that makes wigs for children who have lost their hair due to Cancer treatments, well done Lila Rose.

ST MARY’S GARDENING CLUB: Are holding its Spring Show tomorrow, Saturday, in the main hall of the St Mary’s Social Centre from 2pm to 4.30pm. The hall will look lovely with exhibits of daffodils and other spring flowers as well as vegetables, cookery, photographs, flower arrangements and more. The Cottage Pre-School will be entering the daffodils that they have grown in a pot and the Rainbows will have a great display of butterflies they have made. Tea and delicious home made cake are a bargain at £1.50 and there is also raffle, tombola, book stall, plant stall and cake and jam stall. It is open to all and we look forward to seeing you there.
