Virgin: Congratulations go to the team of workman who are laying the cables for Virgin around our estate. They arrived in my road on Monday and have worked flat out since, keeping the pavements and the roads passable as much as possible. Unlike some other workmen I have watched around here, they start work before daylight in the mornings, only stop for lunch and continue working after dark. They must be on a tight contract but impressive nevertheless.

Christ Church: The final session of Christ Church Tots before the Christmas holidays will be held today, the 16th from 09.30 to 1130am. There will be a range of activities for toddlers and their parents and carers, along with a few seasonal surprises. On Sunday December 18 , we have our Annual Carol Service at 10:30am led by our Minister Rev. John Gordon , who also lead a communion service at 6.30 pm for the fourth Sunday in Advent. Come along to enjoy the real meaning of Christmas. Church Members will be carol singing in the area surrounding the church on the evening of Monday December19th, so listen out for our sweet seasonal harmonies in Valence Road , Leicester Road and adjacent streets. There will be house-to-house collections for local charities. We will also be joining the town carol singing for the Lewes Passion Play on the evening of Thursday December 22nd.

Wallands School: Thank you for joining in the quiz for Patina 2017, for frequenting the bar and to everyone who gave time, effort and theirs skills to make it so much fun last Friday evening. The movie round will surely go down in Wallands history! We made an amazing £962, which is a significant part of the money we are committed to raise for Patina 2017.The KS2 choir have had 2 performances this week; Sing Noel with the New Sussex Singers in St Anne’s Church and a bigger concert at Southover Church; The Lewes Victoria Hospital Carol Concert; Mrs Taylor attended Sunday and she reported how lovely it was. This is the 2nd year the choir have been invited back to accompany them. Two Yr 6 children were selected to sing the 1st verse of Once in Royal David City to start the performance off, Clemmie Page on Sunday and Rosie Ellis, Wednesday. Both the girls did brilliantly, despite their nerves! Our choirs only run due to the very dedicated volunteers, Briony Lambert supported by her mother Rachel on piano for KS2 and Jackie Nisbett and Wendy Roe in KS1, the school is very lucky to have these adults offering singing opportunities to the children.
