NEW AMBULANCE SERVICE LAUNCHED WITH SUCCESS STORY

The creation of the new ambulance service to cover Kent, Surrey and Sussex will be officially marked on Monday, July 3, at East Court, East Grinstead - the very centre of the area to be covered by the new South East Coast Ambulance Service.

Staff, from the longest serving members of staff to the newest recruits from the previous Kent, Surrey and Sussex services, will come together to mark the occasion, alongside the new Trust Chief Executive Paul Sutton and Chairman Martin Kitchen.

A range of ambulance vehicles - front-line ambulances, a patient transport vehicle, rapid response car and motorbike from across the south east coast area - will also be present.

Appropriately, the birth of the new Trust will also be marked by the involvement of a patient whose life was saved recently by an ambulance crew.

East Grinstead resident, Michelle Blackall, will present Chairman Martin Kitchen with the specially-created Crown Badge of the new service.

Mrs Blackall was recently successfully resuscitated using after she had suffered a heart attack and has subsequently gone on to make a full recovery.

Chief Executive of the new Trust, Paul Sutton said: "I feel immensely proud to be leading a new organisation that is building on such good foundations, in terms of the reputation, achievements and commitment of the three previous trusts. I know that all staff throughout the new organisation will continue to be committed to providing the very best levels of care to our residents, by providing services that are truly responsive to their needs."
