New anti-social crime call-line

RESIDENTS across Rother will now have one port of call to raise worries over anti-social behaviour.

Bexhill - based ASBO officer Emily Chironda has taken on responsibility for the Battle and Rye areas.

Emily has already worked to reduce anti-social crime in Bexhill over the last two years.

Now she hopes to do the same across the Rother District.

She said: "It really is anything that doesn't require immediate attention that could be classed as anti-social behaviour that I would like to know about.

"I will then go and see the person and investigate. People will be kept informed through every stage of the investigation."

Options open to the ASBO officer include written warnings and social contracts, as well as the ASBO order itself, which can contain a string of conditions and lead to jail if breached.

Due to the change in her role there is now only ONE number on which to contact Emily to report anti-social behaviour issues in Bexhill and Rother : 01424 456116.

She added: "If it is a specific crime being committed then the police can be contacted on the non-urgent number or on 999 if it is urgent.

"Basically I will deal with low level nuisance which can be anything from balls being kicked against fences and windows to drinking and problems in the streets.

"There is a need for this and I am going to be doing my best with the help of PCSO's to tackle anti-social behaviour across the whole area.

Rother Neighbourhood Policing Team is working to make people feel safe in their homes and to improve their quality of life."
