New boat for rowing club

A new boat will be presented to the youngsters of Bexhill Rowing Club tomorrow.

The ceremony takes place at 3pm outside the rowing social club.

The boat is a gift from the Bexhill Amateur Sports and Leisure Association (BASALA) which was set up 30 years ago to support talented young people to fulfill their potential.

BASALA is donating a new coastal four and it will be launched by junior rowers Greg Anderson and Ben Slatter, part of the winning Junior Four of 2010, plus Katie Skelton and Annabel Laity who are some of the club’s newest female rowers, and coxed by Alex Pepper.

Club spokesman Matt Mitchell said: “The four is part of the new style craft that has appeared on the coastal rowing scene and will enable us to compete at the highest level.”
