This year’s LGBT+ celebration is from Friday August 3 to Sunday August 5, and organisers have announced a new event; LoveBN1Fest.

After the famous parade through the city and festival in Preston Park on Saturday, the new event takes place on Sunday, with more music and entertainment for revellers.

The new Sunday community event at Preston Park is set to help raise extra funds for the Pride Social Impact Fund, which hands out grants to community groups in Brighton and Hove.

A Brighton Pride spokesperson said: “Brighton and Hove Pride is a Pride to be proud of. It is a Pride with purpose. Alongside the smiles, sunshine and good times, Brighton Pride’s sole ethos is to raise funds and awareness.

“Pride has its routes in the community and in the last four years has raised over £455,000 for local good causes.

As always, the free community parade on Saturday, August 4 returns, creating a riot of colour as Pride celebrates the 40th anniversary of the rainbow flag.

Paul Kemp, managing director of Brighton Pride said, “Coming together as a community to declare our unity is ever more important, as we continue to face the challenges of those around the world who would take back LGBT+ rights and equality.

“Join us in August for Brighton Pride 2018 and ‘Colour My World’. Together we can keep moving forward, celebrating, campaigning and connecting with Pride, proving love wins.”

The event usually pulls in hundreds of thousands of revellers, as the parade makes its way through the city, onto Preston Park where the Pride Festival kicks off.

The ticketed event at Preston Park has played host to huge acts in the past, such as Sister Sledge, Pet Shop Boys, Years & Years, Carly Rae Jepsen, Fatboy Slim, Paloma Faith, Katy B, Ruby Rose, The Human League, Fleur East, Ella Henderson, Boy George, Alison Moyet, and Ms Dynamite.

The Pride Festival also features dance tents, cabaret, live music and community areas, so there’s something for everyone.

The Pride Village Party returns to St James Street, and Waterhall plays host to Pride’s campsite this year from August 3 to 6, with a Pride bus service between the site and the city throughout the weekend.
