Southlands Place has been built by Caring Homes on the site of the former Southlands Court Hotel and opened its doors to residents on Thursday February 4.

The open weekend on 30-31st January stirred up lots of interest, with more than 60 neighbours and local people visiting to take a look around.

The care home offers high quality residential, nursing and dementia care tailored to meet the individual needs of up to 72 residents.

The state-of-the art home boasts en-suite bedrooms, a cinema room, Little Acorns Café, a relaxing therapy room and two hairdressing salons as well as a private dining room, several smaller lounges and kitchen areas for residents’ own use.

Brigid Sedour, Home Manager of Southlands Place, said: “We were delighted to be able to welcome the Mayor and show him how this site has been transformed into a modern-day care home.

“ We are also pleased to be able to bless the home, as we do all new Caring Homes care homes.

“Many of our staff have been recruited from the local area, and the first of our new residents will be joining us this week. We can’t wait for them to arrive.”

Southlands Place is part of the Caring Homes Group which was established in 1994 by registered nurse Helena Jeffery and her son Paul.
