New choir set to rock Wick

PEOPLE in Wick now have a new reason to sing for joy following the opening of a new community choir in the area, on Thursday (September 19).

The Rock Choir has opened up its latest club based at Wick Hall, in Wick Street.

The choir, which nationally has more than 16,000 members, is open to people of all ages.

The Wick branch is being run by choir leader Vikki Hewitt. She is urging as many people as she can to expand both their horizons and their lungs and join up.

She said: “Rock Choir is very different to more traditional choirs and choral societies.

“We sing our own, special arrangements of feel good chart and pop songs. You don’t have to read music and there are no auditions.

“We get invited to perform at some really exciting events and raise lots of money for charities and local causes. In 2012 alone we helped raise over £1 million for charity.”
